Phat Phrequency (Producer Graham Silbiger) delivers a tight, electrofunk, broken beat remix of Splinters from Richard's recently released album, Opening Scene.
Bassist and producer Graham Silbiger has been active in London's underground music scene since the early eighties. First, in 1982 as bassist with ten-piece North London funk legends Savajazz. The band released Everything We Do on a Rough Trade/NME release and was tour support to Roy Ayers in 1985. Graham played with and formed a number of funk bands including Push, Sherrone and Pure Sex, The Hotheads, Majik Pokit and Vibe Tribe.
By the mid-nineties, Graham was both promoting his own club nights, and continuing to host many jams sessions at parties, clubs and raves. These included the now legendary Flipside at Mayfair's Iceni club. Majik Pokit's three year residency there saw guest performances from members of The Roots, Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies, Mica Paris and just about anyone passing through town including Prince.
1994 saw the band host an incredible three day jam at Glastonbury in a huge marquee in the NME field, with guest performances from many artists from the jazz and funk stages. That year Graham also recorded Bass for the JBs Horns, Clyde Stubblefield, Misty Oldland and Jessica Lauren among many others.
During the noughties, Graham continued promoting his own club nights and jam sessions including Show and Prove, at a plethora of London venues including the Southbank Centre and The ICA among several Camden venues including the now long gone HQ and WKD, Graham continued the live improvisational experimental vibe that had become the hallmark of his jam promotions. Many musicians who went on to great success cut their teeth at these jams. Graham also recorded bass for several artists during this period including George Michael for his Patience album in 2003.
By the end of the decade Graham was producing artists and performing live with several bands including, Elia, Rossana and with his song writing partner singer Mataniu.
In 2013 Graham began releasing music under the Phat Phrequency name with the Hexagram 64 EP. This was followed in 2019 with the Promise of Tomorrow EP. (A remix from DJ and producer Johnny Primed is in progress).
2021 saw the reggae and Sufi inspired, Heaven is at the Feet of Mothers, with Constantine Weir. In 2023 Phat Phrequency released the Starflow EP with tracks Mink Sky which is played and produced by Graham and Moving On which features, Nick Van Gelder on drums, Jake Telford on Sax and Matt Cooper on Keys, Graham is on bass and guitars.
